Donna Vermeer, Writer-Director

Donna Vermeer is a filmmaker and longtime New Yorker. She has made environmental and political documentaries for over 15 years around the globe for BBC Films, PBS and National Geographic. Her recent narrative work includes two short films: Robbery on the Champs Elysées, filmed in the banlieues of Paris with an international cast including Malik Zidi (France/Algeria), César Award Best Actor Les amitiés maléfiques. Nurgul Yesilcay (Turkey), Fatih Akin’s Cannes Winner The Edge of Heaven. Olivia Morgan (U.K.). Darko Rundek (Croatian musician and poet) and A Lover’s Discourse, based on Roland Barthes’ text and lensed by cinematographer Tim Orr.
